Aboriginal Languages Program
Program Aboriginal Languages Program
Purpose To enable Aboriginal communities to preserve, teach and utilise traditional language and to provide opportunities for Aboriginal students to learn Aboriginal languages.
Brief description Aboriginal Programs Unit funds primary, central and high schools to implement Aboriginal language programs in consultation with local Aboriginal Elders and Aboriginal community people.

Funding is provided for the employment of a local language speaker and for the development and/or purchase of resources.
Target group Aboriginal students across NSW schools.
 
Operational details (geographical coverage, number of participants etc) Operates in selected schools (high, primary and central) across NSW.

* Each school runs their own program and numbers vary at each school.
